Double Page Spread Interview

I recently asked a couple of friends (Anna and Sam) to help me out with my magazine, this meant they would be my main images for my front page and also in my double page spread where the title is about them being a new duo in the music industry. Here are the questions and the answers that will be shown on the double page spread that have been conjured up:

1)How long have you known each other and who's in the group?
A: About 7 years? Maybe? (Laughs)
S: Erm yeah about 7/8 years and there's just the two of us, it's quite hard to find extra singers or what not 'cause we are so close but we have our amazing backing singers, guitar, drummer and keyboard players too for when we have more upbeat rhythms.

2)What do you usually disagree on with music or do you have relatively similar tastes?
S: I guess we agree on the majority of things don't we Anna?
A: (Laughs) that's what he thinks. Erm no seriously though, lucky for us our closeness helps us agree on more things but like everyone, we have our disagreements.

3) Does it help having a close friendship whilst working together musically?
A: I think we'd both agree the majority of the time it does help, and we've been friends for years so we often know what the other's thinking
S: (nods) yeah pretty much (laughs). I think we'd probably say we're pretty similar, whether that's 'cause we've spent so much time together, who knows.
A: Hmm.

4) When did you first realise you wanted to work in the music industry?
A: Gosh that's a hard one for me, I've been around music all my life one way or another so at least 5 years ago. How about you Sam?
S: A good few years myself really, probably when my grandad died 3 years ago, it was then I decided to not let my dreams/chances pass me by.

5) What inspires you? Or is there a song that particularly inspires you?
A & S: 'Linkin' Park' (Laughs)
A: It may seem strange for an indie band to like them but it's true, our family are our inspiration though, past and present.

6) You face some problems trying to make it into the music industry and there are high expectations of the two of you. How do you overcome these problems?
A: We support each other and we have our families too, were all like one family anyway.

7) X Factor and Britain's Got Talent are both reality shows which can involve performing and singing. Do you think they are good ideas? Why?
A: Actually we do, but the problem is if you say never give up on your dream, in this industry on shows like that you seem to get the wrong people not giving up.
S: (Laughs) some acts are pretty funny though, but it shouldn't give programs like that the right to exploit them, but those who haven't tried and are good should definitely carry on chasing their dreams.

8) What was the first gig you went to?
A: Our first gig? Together? Erm.. I actually can't remember (laughs).
S: Probably have been Westlife or something (laughs), long time ago now though.

9) If you could come back as any musical artist who would they be?
A: Haha. Kurt Cobain? Maybe? Just to see how his life was from his perspective.
S: It's gotta be Elvis (winks). 'Aha ha' (laughs). I think it'd just be a laugh and good experience of coping with that many fans for a starter, after all we're bound to be better haha. We'll see.

10) A little different then ha, so what's the title of your new song? You wrote it yourselves is that right?
A: It's always going to be a little risky for a new group to start their career off with their own song, but this is our lives and it's all or nothing with us. Moving on to the title of the song though.. it's called 'It's a Brand New Day', available for download from the beginning of next week (winks and laughs). I think it will have to be one that grows on you after you've heard it a couple of times, the lyrics mean a lot to both of us as they've got hidden meanings in about us both.

11) Well we look forward to seeing your names in the charts! Is there anything left you would like to add. A little note to future fans?
A: (Laughs) let's not get ahead of ourselves haha and erm thanks for having us? Seriously though, just live your life to the full and try not to regret things too much.
S: Yeah, what she said (laughs).
