Straight away from just a glimpse of this contents page you can tell the genre is most likely to be 'rock' from the images used. Images are needed for this purpose but also to interest the reader because if the first page you turned to was plain with just words on it telling you the pages you would probably put the magazine down.
The contents pages is also split into four sections, two different sections for images and then one section for an introduction for that week's or month's magazine signed by the editor usually. The other section is then the actual contents which is the broken down into more sections. This is done by different colour text but still the same font style. The sections are then appropriate to the magazine as in this one we can see there is a couple of pages on feedback for the magazine but quite a few on features, focusing on certain bands.
One thing on this magazine contents page that you sometimes see in others is a smaller version of the front cover to show wher the articles from there are in the magazine so it makes t easier for the reader.
