Evaluation Pp - Improved =]

Below is a new and improved version on my evaluation =]:

The Final Products =]

Above are the 3 final products and each one has improved due to feedback and now look all the more professional in my personal opinion. My front cover has changed ever so slightly each time, like the feedback suggested, so it has gone from strength to strength. I added more articles on to the front whilst adding some different sizes of the font and different colours to the font as was suggested by numerous people of the target audience I had asked. Moreover, after I improved those few, small things I decided to take the orange background off behind the 'win now!' piece of text as a few people suggested it didn't quite 'fit' and I agreed. As you can see below this post there has been changes to my other two products too and the reasons for the changes. I am rather happy with the improvements and so will now leave these as my final products as my feedback has also been very good on the changes made.

The Improved AND Final Double-Page =]

Above is the new version of the double-page spread due to numerous comments from my feedback. Like with my contents page I originally asked 15 people on their opinions of my previous 'Final, Final! Double Page Spread!'. The majority of the comments were good and said they liked the layout of the text and the images, though a couple of comments were mentioned about the faint green circular shape in the middle and how it looked as though it had just been 'stuck' there so I decided to try something a little different. The colour green is still tied in with the front page but the design is better and attracts the attention more so. After asking the same 15 people, they all agreed that the 'bubbles' looked more professional and were more eye catching than the shape before.

For the full analysis on my double-page spread see 'Final, Final! Double Page Spread!' as the only thing that has changed on this post is the background.

Feedback on the previous post

The selection of contents pages below were very similar but the little differences between them made quite an impact. I set up a poll on this blog, however I found the easiest way to receive feedback was just to ask people around the age of my target audience.

Overall contents 1 was the most favoured, after asking 35 people, 16 decided they preferred this contents page over the others as it was brighter some of the others, also the top box with comments from the 'editor' had a slight tint of red to it so it did not come across as the 'black and white' scenario as was commented on my last supposed contents page.

The other results were as follows:
contents 2 - 2 votes
contents 3 - 5 votes
contents 4 - 4 votes
contents 5 - 3 votes
contents 6 - 2 votes
contents 7 - 2 votes
contents 8 - 1 vote.

Some of the other comments were that they 'like the duller colours, though i don't like the duller colours for both the background and for the general, indie, pop, R&B sections.' 'I like the brighter sections on the duller background so it doesn't look as plain and simple but the first one's best because you still have the bright colours but the top text box looks better with some colour and a plain background'. Overall I am pleased with the progress as there are more positive comments about these designs than some from the 'final contents'.

Final, Final! Double Page Spread

For the majority of the analysis of my double page spread, the information is on the 'Final Double Page Spread' post. As stated in the post below though I did make a few changes and since then I have also made some more besides changing the first letter so it is more striking, and adding a title, I have also added a couple of quotes in to entice the readers more. After proofreading it once again I also noticed a spelling mistake and so changed that at the same time.

Double-page Spread Improved

My post for my final double page spread before was aesthetically pleasing to a certain degree but when I looked at it, I felt it was missing that little bit extra. I have kept the images the same, though I have made it a little more conventional as the very first letter on the first paragraph is in a bigger size and in italic so it differentiates a little more from the rest of the article. I also added a title with use of ellipses, again which most magazines do.

Final, Final Front Cover!

For the main analysis of this cover please look at 'final front cover' and the image below. The only difference between this post and the one directly below is that even though i wanted the 'win now!' to stand out i think the background behind it took away from the professionalism of the rest of it. This was one of the problems i felt with my original final front cover piece.

Front Cover Improved

This is the new and improved version of my front cover, the images and the title is still the same, however a strip has been added to the bottom of the page like many magazines do and there are more notices about the articles inside, I have also changed the font of these from 'Walkway' to 'AKKA' as the title is also that. I have then made the articles at the bottom in a different colour as I think it makes the biggest picture appear more as the main photo rather than a few pictures but no main one. Then, as one of the articles is saying 'win now!' I believed it needed to stand out more, so I tried the stereotypical star shape behind it but it didn't look right so i placed a colour behind it instead.
